When will Tour de France 2024 start?
Tour de France 2024 will take place between 29 June and 21 July 2024.
Why Tour de France 2024 will be a unique edition?
This will be the first time in history of Tour de France that
the Grand Depart will take place in Italy.
Tour de France, of course, visited Italy for plenty of time, , but 2024 will be the first year when the race actually starts in the neighbour country. As usual, three stages will organized in the host country, and then, on the 4th day the race will enter France with a probably quite spectacular stage including the mighty Col du Galibier.
But there is another reason why Tour de France 2024 will be a unique edition. Since 1903 the race always finished in Paris (either in the central of the citiy or in one of its suburbs).
The 111th edition will be the first occasion when the race won't finish in Paris.
The reason behind this decision that the Olympic Games will start only a few days after the end of Tour de France, and for logistic and safety reasons it seems more practical not to bring the cycling race in the capital of France.
